About Us
Who We Are
100 years ago, the Grand Mesa Camp site was a family cabin and guest tent on the shore of Baren Lake. 100 years later the campus is managed by the Grand Mesa Christian Association as a Colorado Childe Care facility. Grand Mesa Methodist Camping is a Colorado 501(c)(3) organization that holds summer youth camps as a ministry of the United Methodist Mountain Sky Conference.
Our mission is to serve all of God’s children, offering them the opportunity to become closer to God and each other. We do this by providing a safe, connectional, wilderness experience in the sacred space.
Values
Camping is the third sacrament of the United Methodist Church. Camping is important to our history, and our future. Just as early church leaders grew our congregation and mission with powerful camping experiences, we fill this sacrament by protecting and having gratitude for Grand Mesa Methodist Camp.
Campfire stories and camp traditions are a means of grace. Campers experience true grace and the opportunity for deeper connection when they are unplugged from technology and plugged into the history and stories of this camp. We honor the traditions that built connections and tell and retell the stories of grace found here.
The stories being told become the stories being created. Each camper becomes part of the tapestry and traditions of Gand mesa Camp, leaving with their own story to tell and their own way to serve this space.
